Careers
At The View School, we are committed to ensuring that every one of our students is as fully prepared as possible, for life beyond school.
Our careers education programme is tailored to meet the individual needs, aspirations and unique abilities of our students.
Our Careers Programme
Our careers programme is structured, progressive and embedded across the curriculum. It includes:
-
Personalised careers guidance and transition planning
-
Opportunities to develop employability and life skills
-
Encounters with employers and workplaces
-
Access to impartial advice on education, training and employment pathways
-
Preparation for adulthood, including independent living skills
It is centred around the six learning areas from the Careers Development Institute as detailed below.

All pupils receive independent and impartial careers advice, in line with statutory guidance
Our careers programme is underpinned by the Gatsby Benchmarks, which define career education in England.
We use the eight benchmarks to plan, deliver and evaluate our career programme.
These benchmarks are;
1. A stable careers programme
2. Learning from labour market information
3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
5. Encounters with employers and employees
6. Experiences of workplaces
7. Encounters with further and higher education
8. Personal guidance
